Public Affairs Section

The Public Affairs Section of the United States Embassy in Sierra Leone is in charge of Press, Information, Cultural and Exchange Programs.  It explains and advocates U.S. policy, facilitates media and cultural relations, and advises the U.S. Embassy in Sierra Leone on issues of public diplomacy and public affairs. As an integral part of the U.S. Mission, the Public Affairs Section works closely with other sections of the American Embassy and with Sierra Leonean educational, cultural, press, and private institutions to strengthen the bilateral relationship.

Educational Advising Services

Information and materials regarding studying in the USA can be found in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library at the Embassy and at the American Corner in the Bo Regional Library.  You can also make an appointment to discuss your own options.  The Advisor is available Tuesday and Thursdays from 8:30 am to 4pm.

American Corner at Bo Regional Library

The American Ambassador HE Thomas N. Hull on Tuesday, September 27, 2005 opened the first American Corner at the Bo Regional Library in Bo.  The Project is a partnership between the American Embassy and the Sierra Leone Library Board.  According to the Memorandum of Understanding, the Embassy provided Books, Magazines, Audio Visual equipment and Internet for the use of the Public.  The program was well attended by dignitaries in Bo, including the Paramount Chief, the Regional Minister and the Chairman, Bo Town Council.  The Ambassador, the Public Affairs Officer, the Self Help Coordinator and some local staff represented the Embassy.
