Throughout the week of March 7, the USS Robert G. Bradley will be visiting Freetown as part of the U.S. Navy’s Africa Partnership Station (APS) program. APS is an international security operation initiative, facilitated by the U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa and other international partners, aimed at strengthening global maritime partnerships through training and other collaborative activities in order to improve maritime security in Africa.

January 18-27, 2011 - U.S. Dancer Mixes Modern Dance, African Beats, and Child Outreach (72K)
American dancer and choreographer Michelle Pearson conducted an intensive dance workshop at the United States Embassy in Freetown from January 18-27. She worked with a local team of dancers, musicians, and child care workers to create a dance program for young children from Pikin Ballanta cultural group and Don Bosco Fambul boys’ home.

January 6, 2011 - U.S. Ambassador, Family Visit Community-Based Agriculture and Crafts Projects
On January 5, Ambassador Michael S. Owen, his wife, and daughter visited two projects sponsored under the Ambassador’s Special Self-Help (SSH) Program, which supports small, community-based initiatives. These projects are designed in cooperation with community members, who contribute their own resources, usually in the form of labor and in-kind donations.
