2008 Diversity Visa Lottery Registration to Begin October 4

The U.S. Department of State has announced that registration for the 2008 Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery will begin on October 4, 2006 and entries will be accepted until December 3, 2006.

The program makes available 50,000 permanent resident visas annually, drawn from random selection among all entries to persons who meet strict eligibility requirements from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States.
Persons seeking to enter the lottery program must register online through the designated Web site (www.dvlottery.state.gov) during the registration period.  Registration is free of charge.

The State Department will notify winning entrants by mail between May and July 2007.  Those selected in the random drawing are NOT notified by e-mail.
