United States Sponsors Environmental Workshops in Makeni

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in cooperation with Sun Mountain International, World Vision, and the Sierra Leone Ministries of Agriculture and Environment, is pleased to announce the successful closure of two five day workshops for close to 100 professionals on environmentally sound management of development programs for USAID partner organizations, decision makers, and government officials in Sierra Leone at the Fatima Conference Center in Makeni.  The workshops took place on March 9-13 and March 16-20.

The workshops promoted the incorporation of environmental considerations in the design, implementation, and evaluation of development programs, with the intent to improve the socioeconomic conditions and food security of the most vulnerable rural populations in Sierra Leone.    It also provided participants the opportunity to share lessons learned and forge connections with other development professionals.
