Filing an I-130 Petition at the US Embassy in Freetown

If you are an American citizen and you have been legally resident in Sierra Leone for at least six months immediately preceding the date you'd like to file your I-130 petition, and you are filing for an immediate relative (mother, father, spouse, child), you may file your I-130 petition at the U.S. Embassy in Freetown. 

You must file the I-130 petition in person and provide the following items at the time of your interview:

• U.S. $355 in cash only.  We prefer  U.S. Dollars which significantly reduce wait times at the cashier.  However, you may pay the equivalent in Le5,000 and Le10,000 notes.
  
• Proof of U.S. citizenship.
  
• Proof of legal permission to reside in Sierra Leone.
  
• Proof that you have resided in Sierra Leone for at least six months preceding the date of your interview.
  
• Official, original documentation showing the qualifying relationship: birth certificates, name change documents, marriage, divorce and death certificates for the petitioner and the beneficiary, as appropriate. 
  
• One clear photocopy of each original document.  
  
• Notarized translations of all documents that are not in English.
  
• Two 2"x2" (5cm x 5 cm) color photographs of the petitioner and each beneficiary. 
  
• Passports of all beneficiaries, with a minimum of six months validity. 
  
• Completed form I-130 by petitioner (available on the Internet at http://www.uscis.gov)
  
• G-325A by petitioner and spouse (available on the Internet at http://www.uscis.gov)
  

If your I-130 petition is not readily approvable, the consular officer will forward your petition to USCIS in Accra, Ghana for adjudication.
