Black History Month Film Show at Kissy Library (18 February 2009)
The IRC Director conducted a Black History Month (BHM) program at the Kissy Library on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 for school children and the general public. The following films were shown to commemorate BHM: Understanding the Civil Rights Movement (pts 1 & 2), and the Inauguration of President Barack Obama. The program drew more than 50 participants. Many others watched from windows outside as the hall could not accomodate more.
US Embassy Launches American Shelf at Kissy Library (October 18, 2007)
The U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires ad interim, Ms. Elizabeth Susie Pratt, launched the American Shelves Program at the Kissy Library on Thursday, October 18, 2007. The American Shelves concept is derived from the widely successful American Corners, a partnership between Public Affairs sections of U.S. Embassies and host institutions. The Shelf at Kissy Library will join the American Corner at the Bo Regional Library, the first partnership in Sierra Leone.
