2011 American Independence Program at Kissy American Corner

In celebrating 4th of July which is American Independence Day, the IRC shared knowledge of how the United States gained independence by showing a History Channel movie on American Independence at the Kissy American Corner.  After the film, IRC Director, Mr. James Taylor and Intern Collin Benedict answered questions the people of Kissy community had about how the United States won independence from Britain and why Americans celebrate the way they do. Not only did these discussions revolve around American Independence, but also national pride. In this way, Collin and James were able to encourage native Sierra Leoneans to learn how Americans show their pride for their country, and moreover to be proud Sierra Leoneans.  The same program was done a week later at the Sierra Leone Library Board Headquarters.
